"Black Death BBQ" presents my father barbequing in his backyard while my mother builds a bomb in the basement. Montaging these two distinct events, the video also abruptly cuts to my mother shopping in a supermarket, my family feeding each other, and my dad tearing through a giant tin foil ball in his kitchen. The juxtaposition of these vignettes then creates a narrative that is fractured and absurd, contemporary yet in debt to 1970s performative video, and particularly American in its portrayal of people and place.
